A LETTER |

మైసూరు ఆగస్టు 25, 1980. ప్రియమైన నాన్నగారికి నమస్కారం. ఇక్కడ నేను క్షేమం. అక్కడ మీరూ, అమ్మా, చిరంజీవి, గిరిజ, మోహన్, క్షేమంగా ఉన్నారా? మైసూరులో వాతావరణం చాలా బాగుంది. చల్లగా ఉంది. ఇప్పుడు ఇక్కడ వర్షాకాలం. మాకు క్లుసులు బాగా జరుగుతున్నాయి. కొత్తభాష కాబట్టి ఉత్సాహంగానే ఉంది. నేనిక్కడ హాస్టల్లో ఉంటున్నాను. మా హాస్టలు ఇన్ స్టిట్యూట్ నించి సుమారు మైలు దూరంలో ఉన్నది. హాస్టల్లో మెస్సు ఉంది. మెస్సులో ఎక్కువగా అన్నం. ఇక్కడి ప్రజల ఆహారం అన్నం. నేను గూడా మెల్లగా ఇక్కడి పరిస్థితికి అలవాటు పడుతున్నాను. గిరిజ స్కూలుకు వెళ్తోందా? ప్రతి ఆదివారం తమ్ముడు ఇంటికి వస్తున్నాడా? వాడి పరీక్ష సంగతి వెంటనే రాయండి. వాడికి గూడా స్కూలు అడ్రసుకు ఉత్తరం రాస్తున్నాను. నా స్వెట్టరు నా దగ్గర లేదు. బహుశ అది ఇంట్లోనే ఉండాలి. ఇక్కడ చాలా చలిగా ఉంది. నాకు స్వెట్టరు కావాలి. వెంటనే దాన్ని పోస్టులో పంపండి. అమ్మగారికి నమస్కారాలు. పిల్లలకు ఆశీస్సులు. వెంటనే ఉత్తరం రాయండి. ఇంతే సంగతులు ఇట్లు మీ కుమారుడు వినోద్ కుమార్. |
မိုင်းဆူးရ် ဩဂုတ် ၂၅၊ ၁၉၈၀။ ချစ်လှစွာသော ဖေဖေ မင်္ဂလာပါ။ ဒီမှာ ကျနော် နေရတာ အဆင်ပြေပါတယ်။ ဖေဖေ၊ အငယ်လေး၊ မေမေ၊ ဂီရိဂျလေးနဲ့ မိုဟန်းတို့လည်း နေကောင်းကြမယ်လို့ မျှော်လင့်ပါတယ်။ မိုင်းဆူးရ် ရာသီဥတုက ကောင်းတယ်။ အခု ဒီမှာ မိုးရာသီ ဆိုတော့ အေးတယ်။ ကျနော်တို့ အတန်းတွေက အချိန်ပြည့် ရှိနေတယ်။ ဘာသာစကားအသစ် ဖြစ်လို့ သင်ယူရတာ စိတ်ဝင်စားစရာ ကောင်းတယ်။ ကျနော်က အဆောင်မှာ နေတယ်။ ကျနော်တို့ အဆောင်က တက္ကသိုလ်ကနေ တစ်မိုင်လောက် ဝေးတယ်။ အဆောင်မှာ လပေး စားသောက်ဆိုင် ရှိတယ်။ ဒီဆိုင်က ထမင်းက များတယ်။ ဒီက လူတွေက ထမင်းကို အဓိက စားကြတယ်။ ကျနော်လည်း တဖြည်းဖြည်း ဒီက အခြေအနေနဲ့ အသားကျနေပါပြီ။ ဂီရိဂျ ကျောင်းသွားရဲ့လား။ ညီလေးရော တနင်္ဂနွေနေ့တိုင်း အိမ်ကို ပြန်လာရဲ့လား။ သူ့ရဲ့ စာမေးပွဲ ကိစ္စကို သိပ်မကြာခင် စာရေး(ပြန်)ပေးပါ။ သူ့ကိုလည်း ကျောင်း လိပ်စာကနေ(တစ်ဆင့်) စာ ရေး(ပို့)လိုက်ပါမယ်။ ကျနော့် ဆွယ်တာ ကျနော့်မှာ မရှိဘူး။ သေချာပေါက် အဲ့ဒါ အိမ်မှာပဲ ရှိရမယ်။ ဒီမှာ အရမ်း အေးတယ်။ ကျနော် ဆွယ်တာ လိုချင်တယ်။ သိပ်မကြာခင် အဲ့ဒါကို စာတိုက်(မှာ)ကနေ ပို့ပေးပါ။ အမေ့ကို ကန်တော့လိုက်ပါတယ်။ ကလေးတွေကိုလည်း ဆုတောင်းပေး ပါတယ်။ မကြာခင် စာ ပြန်ရေးပါ။
ကျတော် ပြောချင်တဲ့ အကြောင်းတွေကတော့ ဒီလောက်ပါပဲ။ အမေတို့ရဲ့ သားလေး ဝီနို့ဒ် ကူမားရ်။ |

My dear father,
Regards. I am doing well here. I hope you, mother, Chiranjiivi Girija and Mohan
are doing well. The climate in Mysore is fine. This is rainy season here now and it is cold.
Our classes are on the full swing. It is interesting to learn because it is a new language. I am residing in the hostel. Our hostel is located about a mile from our institute. There is a mess in the hostel. Rice is served more (often and in quantity) in the mess. The staple food of the people here is rice. I am also slowly getting accustomed to the situation here. Does Girija go to school regularly? Does my younger brother come home every Sunday? Please write to me about his examination soon. I am also writing to him to his school address. I don’t have my sweater with me. Probably it is left at home. It is very cold here. I need the sweater. Please send it by post. Please give my regards to mother and blessings to the youngsters. Please reply immediately.
